How I started earning from Travel While Working Full Time✈️
If someone had told me a year ago that I’d be running my own travel business, booking over £25,000 in holidays, and building a team of incredible people, all while juggling a full-time job in insurance, I honestly would’ve thought they were joking.
But here I am.
By day, I’m a customer service administrator in insurance, a stable job that I’m grateful for. But deep down, I’ve always felt like there’s more out there for me, more freedom, more adventure, more purpose. And if you know me, you’ll know one thing for sure: I live for travel. It’s more than just a hobby; it’s a passion. Planning trips, discovering new destinations, and creating memories have always been what gets me excited. But like so many people, I found myself in a position where I couldn’t afford to travel as often as I wanted.
That’s when I started looking for a way to weave travel into my life more consistently, not just as something I do once or twice a year, but as something that could work with my busy life.
And that’s when I discovered the travel business opportunity.
At first, I was filled with doubts. “What if no one books through me?” I thought. I had no background in sales, no experience in marketing, and I had absolutely no clue how to start a business. The idea of building something from scratch was intimidating, to say the least.
But you know what? Something deep inside me told me to go for it anyway. I was passionate. I was craving change. And most importantly, I knew that if I didn’t take that first step, I’d never know what was possible.
Fast forward to now, and here’s where I stand:
I’ve booked over £25,000 in travel.
I’ve saved so much money on my own trips.
I’ve built a team of inspiring individuals who are all working towards the same goal - making travel more accessible and affordable for everyone.
And the best part? I still work full-time in insurance. Yes, you read that right.
I know that sounds crazy, but here’s the thing: if you want something, you find a way to make it happen. I’m extremely busy, between my full-time job, life, and everything else, but every spare moment I get, I dedicate it to my travel business. Whether it’s during my lunch break, in the evenings, or on weekends, I’ve learned to make the time. And honestly? It never feels like a chore.
I always tell people, "If you can find two hours of screen time on your phone each day, then you can absolutely build a successful business." It’s all about using your time intentionally and making the most of the moments when you're not at your day job.
I’ll be honest: I wish I had started sooner. It’s not just about the money I’ve saved or the commissions I’ve earned, it’s about the confidence I’ve gained, the freedom I now have, and the realisation that travel doesn’t have to be a once a year thing. It can be part of your life every single day, whether you’re working or traveling.
So, if you’ve ever thought about turning your passion for travel into something more, I say: go for it. You don’t need experience, just an open mind and a little ambition. If I can do it, so can you.
It’s changed my life, and I truly believe it could change yours too. ✈️
A Few Tips to Get Started:
Find the time: Even if you’re busy with a full-time job, carve out time for your side hustle. It’s all about balancing priorities.
Start small: Don’t worry about being perfect from the start. Take it one step at a time, learn as you go, and celebrate the small wins.
Stay passionate: The key to staying motivated, even when it’s hard, is loving what you do. If travel excites you, it will fuel you on tough days.
Be consistent: It’s easy to get distracted, but building something successful requires consistency. Even an hour a day can make a huge difference.
